Book list

I'm giving the vacation pics a rest. I probably need to hunt down the camera and add other pics but the energy level is too low tonight. Instead, I'm curious to know what everyone is reading these days. Right now, I'm fascinated with the changes Krentz has made in her writing style since she wrote TWIST OF FATE back in 1986. And the books I just ordered are Joanne Fluke's PEACH COBBLER MURDER, Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack's LITERACY AND LONGING IN LA (A Version of the Truth)--isn't that a fascinating title?---Deanna Raybourn's SILENT IN THE GRAVE, Connie Brockway's SO ENCHANTING, Susan Wiggs' FIRESIDE, Crusie et al's DOGS AND GODDESSES, and it should go without saying, SEP'S WHAT I DID FOR LOVE.

Anyone read any of these yet? Any comments?

Akaka Falls

This probably needs to be the last of the Hawaii posts, but I do adore the waterfalls. Donna, you will proudly take note that I've remembered the name of this park! Utterly stunning views and walkways full of lush foliage, all for free. Sherrie, you will note my husband did manage to take a flower picture.

And banyan trees fascinate me, so we have lots of pics of them as well. This is one of the smaller ones, taken from one of the walks at the park.

Someone today said when they traveled, they post their daily photos and memories on a blog, then print it out when they come home. That would require that I haul this laptop around, but it's a nice idea. Far simpler than me trying to remember names and pictures weeks after the fact! Anybody got a vacation blog we can link to?

Making Waves

I believe these are the waves crashing at the state park on the north end of the Big Island--a place where an entire village and a lot of children were wiped out by a tsunami prior to the World War, if I'm remembering my date correctly. At the time, no one knew that tsunamis brought more than one big wave. So the school children ran out to see the weird sight. Tragic. But the scenery here is dramatic and the park is now a restful memorial.

We'd heard a lot about the waves on the north end of Oahu where the surfing contests are held, but they were sadly placid the day we were there. I think if I had any chance of making waves like that, I would!
