Super Tuesday

Has everyone gone out and voted yet? Or are you sitting at home with a shotgun to your head wondering if it's all worth it? Cheer up and throw a Super Tuesday party--watch the votes roll in and throw popcorn at the screen! I'll just be glad when these automated robots quit calling me. Do candidates really think people are stupid enough to be swayed by a recorded message? And if people really really are that dumb to be swayed by a recording, maybe we ought to consider giving basic IQ tests before anyone is allowed to vote. That goes double for the candidates.

Okay, it's gloomy today and I'm trying to get in the mood to try writing dark and edgy. I'm almost there. Tonight's onslaught of TV news anchors predicting the impossible will probably push me right to that edge. I think I've already found a way to dump a body on the doorstep on the first page...

Monday, Monday

It's sunny and seventy and I want to go out and play. The weather is so extreme this year it's no wonder we're having a severe flu outbreak, even the virii want to go out and play.

I spent most of the day tilting at windmills and spinning wheels, trying to get myself back in the groove. Tons of clean up things like writing reviews I'd promised, trying to track down who I promised them to (writersarereaders.com), fighting with my internet service, editing the women's fiction summaries, pulling out the working plan for the next historical and getting distracted by some research that makes me wonder if I need to change plans.... The usual sort of thing Mercury retrograde is good for. I've printed the current historical out in galley format and keep meaning to sit down and read through it, but I just can't get up the energy to look at it again right now.

And since I bought some pretty colored folders over the weekend, I filed each of my travel plans in a different color folder so when I reach into my standing file, I can find the one I want without opening all of them. Provided, of course, I remember which color is which. At the moment, I'm scheduled for Novelists Inc in NYC in March, RT in Pittsburg in April, and RWA in San Francisco in July.

Anyone else out there going to conferences this year?
