Ups and Downs

Finally ran spell check on revision, so it only has one more stage to go. I'll re-read in a few weeks before sending it to my editor.

Wrote an entire new chapter in the historical!!! Almost into the home stretch.

Talked to my agent, who has decided the paranormal market is glutted so the paranormal proposals are too iffy to fly. I need to figure out how to post a chapter a week or something because I really want to write at least one of them.

But now I must come up with something new. Brainstorming looms.

Not sure if this comes under Mental Power Outages, but after I finished the chapter this morning, my brain refused to move on to the next chapter. So I switched to left brain activity and added the edits to my revision. This afternoon, after the edits were added, I was ready to play with ideas for another contemp. Maybe our creativity just needs an occasional rest?

Pat, several of my clients write paranormals, so hearing that the market is glutted isn't the greatest news. However, I'm not surprised by the glut. I've seen it coming long ago.

Regarding your comment that maybe creativity needs an occasional rest: This is certainly true, but I've found that sometimes we "artistic" types just trade one form of creativity for another. For instance, when the writing stalls, I like to make cards (I'm a rubber stamper). Or paint. Or whip out my camera and take a million pictures. Or bake. It's mental stimulation, so that counts, right? *g*

Beginning authors can get away with a great deal more than established authors, so your clients are still fine. I have to establish a long-lived niche, and paranormal isn't here forever.

And you're way more right-brained than I am! I need to switch brain sides.
