The shadow of Mercury retrograde looms large and I’m running behind on everything. (See, I’m even creative in my excuses!) And the weather has been so lovely, I’d much rather be outside than in front of this computer. I don’t run, but I can do a brisk walk that covers a lot of territory when I’m trying to escape work.
The new contemporary came out yesterday, and I’m already receiving contest entries. I am so impressed! I’m thrilled, of course, but the thought of sifting through all the entries is daunting on top of the rest of the schedule I’ve set for this month.
The page proofs for MAGIC MAN are due in by next week. We’re working on ads and ARCs and promotional items for MM’s July release, while I’m scheduling conferences and signings and preparing library talks for SMALL TOWN GIRL. I just turned in the next contemporary, and I’m creating sales copy and doing the title waltz on that already. (How does SWEET HOME CAROLINA sound?)
And with the contemporary on my editor’s desk, it’s time to do the proposal thing for the next one. The plot’s there. The character’s are chafing at the bit. But spring is in the air, and I just can’t seem to pull the two together. Arggghhhh!
So I’ve been knuckling down on the editing process of the first book for the new historical series. Can’t say I’m making great progress, but I’ve been told retrograde is a great time for revising.
Maybe I should have been a juggler.
