I’m delighted to see some of my newsletter readers stopping by, and I’m equally appalled to see how remiss I’ve been in posting to my blog. I blame deadline schedules, but holiday spirit probably had more to do with it! That, and my husband being home for a week, giving me time to hit the stores and spend our money. We’ve finally become the proud owners of a small LCD TV.
What has that to do with writing? Probably not much, but I do belong to Netflix and watch old movies regularly as a means of “filling the well.” The new TV takes away that annoying wide screen black line so I’m not throwing popcorn at it. Although I’m still inclined to do so when a storyline goes off the track or a character falls out of character, which happens much too frequently.
And by “filling the well,” I’m talking about a writer’s need to find creativity from the world around them. Our families, our neighbors, our society, the newspaper, magazines, all provide inspiration to fill the creative well, but movies immerse us in a new world, just as a good book should. And that’s the best inspiration of all.
So, please, stop by and chat here whenever you have time. Communicating with readers is another opportunity for me to “fill the well.” I love feedback and arguments!
